The problem
The shop depends on scheduled deliveries. On the new theme, the delivery app’s date picker kept vanishing and the page kept reloading, so the owner had switched the app off and could not launch the theme.
What I built
- Traced the loop in the app’s code: its health check reloaded the page whenever its widget went missing, and its reload guard reset every time the widget came back.
- Found why only the new theme broke: its cart form had a different id, so the app’s fallback could not find where to mount.
- Added one stable placeholder the app could always mount into. Zero reloads, and delivery date, time and store carried through to checkout.
- Ported the florist’s order fields, like occasion, card message and notes for the florist, and built a same day shipping countdown that handles weekends and daylight saving.
- Wrote up the bug for the app’s own developers.
