The problem
Watch owners arrive knowing their exact model. The brand needed to answer "will this winder fit my watch?" across a database of about 14,400 watches, on a standard Shopify plan with no server of its own. Every page also had to match the mockups on desktop and mobile.
What I built
- 37 custom sections built from 26 HTML mockups, every one editable in the theme editor.
- A watch compatibility database on metaobjects, imported from a spreadsheet and searchable from 3 characters.
- Loading in parallel chunks with caching for popular watches, so common searches appear almost instantly.
- A mega menu, cart page and drawer, search with filters, blog, support hub, product manuals and a QR welcome page.
- One product template driven by metafields, so a new product takes minutes, not a developer.
- Fixed forms that looked like they sent but silently failed, and a colour picker that always added the first colour to the cart.
How I proved it
~1sto show popular watches, down from about 50 seconds
288 to 58network requests for the database page
22/22product page colours matched to the mockup
The result
Delivered in phases and live. The client kept coming back for new rounds and left four public five star reviews.
“I have been using Fiverr for years and this has genuinely been one of the best experiences I have had on the platform. ... What I appreciated most was that he cared about the final result and not just finishing the order.”
